Boko Haram: Nigeria Military Recaptures Gombi, Hong and Pella in Adamawa

The military has been making concerted efforts to recapture Gombi, Hong and Pella, the three towns in Adamawa state under the control of the Noko Haram Islamic sect. The gun battle between the Nigerian troops and the enemy lasted for four days, resulting in the death of more than 400 insurgents as several of them were arrested. After a long and heated battle, the military finally recaptures the towns.

 
 
Security sources disclosed that for four days, the military has been making concerted efforts to recapture Gombi, Hong and Pella, the three towns in Adamawa state under the control of the Noko Haram Islamic sect. 
 
He said the gun battle between the Nigerian troops and the enemy lasted for four days, resulting in the death of more than 400 insurgents as several of them were arrested. After a long and heated battle, the military finally recaptures the towns.
 
Over recent weeks, Boko Haram has been on the offensive, capturing large swathes of territory across Borno, Adamawa and Yobe States and forcing the Nigerian Army out of several major cities. Of late, however, local militias and vigilante groups have mounted a fightback and begun recapturing territory seized, proving far more formidable that the Nigerian Army.
 
ThisDay reported that there were casualties on the part of the Nigerian troops and several of them, including a top ranking officer, were injured. “ The Nigerian troops are now  in full control of Gombi, Hong and Pella towns  and  more than 400 insurgents were killed in a battle that lasted for four days and several of them have been arrested," he said.  
 
"A lot of weapons and equipment were also  recovered from the insurgents. However, a top ranking officer was seriously injured as a few soldiers lost their lives in the battle. May their soul rest in peace.”
 
The source said with the zeal he saw in the hunters while they were going to the troubled areas, he believed that they would be victorious in the end, adding that since about  three days ago he had been hearing sounds of gunshots from both the troops and Boko Haram insurgents.
“ Our troops and local hunters are committed to end  the activities of the insurgents in the north-east and happy that very soon we will return home,” he said
