Members of the House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education have embarrassed the boss of the Nigerian Teachers Institute, Mr. Aminu Ladan Sarahu walking him out.

Members of the House of Assembly

House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education on Friday took a rather hard posture as it walked-out the Nigerian Teachers Institute boss, Mr. Aminu Ladan Sarahu over poor presentation of his institute’s 2016 budget proposal.

Sarahu was given a shock by the committee headed by Rep Zakari Mohammed, APC, Baruten/ Kaima Federal Constituency for his lack of conviction in presenting and defending the institute's budget. The dramatic moment was embarrassing though as Sarahu was told to go home and rearrange himself before coming back to present the budget again. He was given two weeks to put things together.

They became livid when the NTI boss told them that his Institute was tagged Basic Education, hence it was denied funds from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).

Infuriated, the lawmakers accused him of having a bias mind typical of an unprepared chief executive and therefore ordered him to explain line-by-line what he enumerated in his proposal, since they (lawmakers) couldn’t make any sense of his document.

He was politely asked to excuse the committee members even as the shock and surprise was visible all over his faces.

The committee therefore adjourned the exercise sine die.
