The Head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, has been captured on camera grabbing hold of a piece of clothing thrown from a crowd.
Pope Francis making the catch
The Pope was caught on camera grabbing a football shirt after a young girl threw it to him as he waved at the crowds. Pope Francis nonchalantly grabbed the top with one as hundreds cheered him on.
According to Mirror Online, the young girl had gone along with her father to see the Pope, and sat very close to the front in a bid to spot him.
As he passed, she threw a shirt of the family’s favourite team, Mexican side Cruz Azul. The clip has gone viral among Cruz Azul fans.
Local media speculates this might bring good fortune to the side who have not managed to win the championship for 18 years.
Cruz Azul are currently sixth in the Mexican League.
Pope Francis is currently visiting Mexico, the second largest catholic country in the world after Brazil.
He is the first Pontiff to visit the Mexican presidential palace since 1992 when relations between the country and Vatican were restored after years of animosity due to church involvement in state affairs.
