The Rivers State House of Assembly, on Thursday, June 11, endorsed Governor Nyesom Wike's request to obtain a N10 billion loan to run the administration.
The assembly gave the approval for the loan following a request made by the governor to enable the administration fund some vital projects.
Twenty-eight lawmakers voted in favour of the approval, adding that the request was important because the former administration left an empty treasury for the new government.
In his address, speaker of the House, Ikuinyi Ibani, stated that no government could survive without funds.
He said: “He (Wike) cannot do that without cash back. No government can run without financial base. We must provide succour for our people, so that they can begin to see changes between yesterday and today."
"“This Assembly will not engage in frivolous approval and resolutions. As an Assembly, we have the responsibility to know what the funds sought for, are meant for," Ibani added.
