The Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi has followed in the steps of Nasir El-Rufai by reducing the number of ministries in the state from 23 to 13.
Ajimobi made the disclosure on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, during the inauguration of the state’s 8th Assembly.
The governor said further that the decision was taken to reduce the cost of governance considerably, and to restructure the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) for optimum performance.
“Our desire to embark on the foregoing, among others, is borne out of our ardent desire to make life more abundant for the good people of Oyo State. Likewise, for the state to attain the desired global status that she deserves,” Ajimobi said.
Ajimobi was sworn in for a second term on May 29, 2015, and is the first governor in the state to secure a re-election.
