Panic has taken over a Rivers state community as heavy shooting disrupts peace even as police strive to bring calm.

There was heavy shooting around new GRA of Port Harcourt Wednesday evening. The development generated panic and tension as many scampered for safety.
According to Vanguard, Policemen were on the trail of suspected armed robbers.
At press time, motorists were trapped in major traffic on adjourning streets in the area.
When contacted, the state Police spokesman, DSP Ahmad Muhammad said the operation was still on, adding that he could only give a clear picture of what was happening at the end of the operation.
There were speculations among motorists in the traffic that a new generation bank in the new GRA area may have been attacked by the armed robbers.
