A lady who dabbled into taking heroin for the first time over sleeping problems has been killed in the deadly vice.
Kayleigh Brown
Kayleigh Brown, a young legal worker was found dead in bed after secretly experimenting with heroin for the first time, an inquest heard .
The 24-year-old Kayleigh's family and friends had no idea she had taken the class 'A' drug after she suffered sleeping problems.
A Home Office pathologist said Kayleigh had "no history" of taking opiates and there was no evidence she had ever taken heroin before the night it killed her.
Kayleigh was working as a paralegal at a solicitors firm in Cardiff where she took her law degree.
The hearing was told Kayleigh was found dead in bed by fiancee Gemma Rees in the exclusive gated seafront apartment they shared.
He said: "I was not aware she was taking anything. She seemed disorientated by the lack of sleep and seemed more hyper than she had done.
"She said she thought she was going mental. Later that evening I got her to sleep and she was snoring. I woke up that night at about three to go to the toilet.
"When I woke up I couldn't hear her. I went into the room to put the light on and she didn't respond to me.
"I went over and she had all this stuff coming out of her nose and it had gone down her face."
A Coroner, Andrew Barkley said: "She is described as being jittery after that and had to be put to bed by her partner.
"Blood tests found very high morphine levels which I am satisfied was due to heroin use in these circumstances."
The coroner recorded a verdict of drug-related death and said it was case of someone taking drugs but didn't know how to handle it.
