Tragedy! Early Morning Fire at UNILAG Lodge Kills Ex-Borno Auditor General

A fire which broke out this morning has tragically claimed the life of a former Auditor-General of Borno state.

Mallam Abbah Kyari, a former Auditor General of Borno State died on Thursday in a fire outbreak, inside the Vice-Chancellor’s Lodge of the University of Lagos, UNILAG.
 
Kyari was visiting the University for the installation of  the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garba El-Kanemi as Chancellor of the University.
 
Daily Trust reports that a member of the emir’s delegatiom revealed that the fire incident started at about 2 am from one of the rooms ‎in the lodge. An electrical fault is suspected to have caused the fire.
 
“The fire started sometime around 2am and there were frantic efforts to douse it, but unfortunately, the damage had been done as the former Auditor General sustained injuries that eventually claimed his life,” the source who pleaded anonymity said.
 
According to Daily Trust the late former Auditor General has been returned to Maiduguri for interment by 2pm today.
