Peter Obi Reacts After Thugs Set Ablaze Spare Parts Market In Lagos

The Tolu Police Division of the Nigerian Police recovered a lifeless body of a male adult around the scene of the fire incident.

 
The Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi has reacted after fire destroyed goods worth millions of naira at the spare parts market, Kirikiri road Ajegunle, Ajeromi Ifelodun in Lagos.
 
Recall that we had earlier reported how suspected hoodlums at the wee hours of Wednesday 8th, March 2023, attacked the spare parts market, which is mostly dominated by the Igbos.
 
The Tolu Police Division of the Nigerian Police recovered a lifeless body of a male adult around the scene of the fire incident.
 
Reacting to the incident, Peter Obi via his Twitter handle on Wednesday expressed sadness whilst commiserating with those affected with the fire disaster.
 
He further called on the government to investigate the cause of the outbreak and find ways to help traders who were affected by the incident.
 
He said: “This morning, I received the sad news of the fire outbreak at Akere Spare Parts Market in Olodi-Apapa, Ajegunle, Lagos. Hopefully no life was lost, but the means of livelihood and properties, worth millions of naira, lost to the inferno are of great concern to me.
 
“I commiserate deeply with all those affected by this fire disaster. I call on the government and relevant authorities to investigate the cause of the fire outbreak thoroughly, and forestall future occurrence, while finding ways to help the affected victims.
 
“The need for equal protection under the law; and government’s meeting of her responsibility to protect lives and property cannot be overemphasised.”
