Actors Guild of Nigeria President, Ibinabo Fiberisima, has taken her colleague, Ernest Asuzu to the cleaners over claims she abandoned him to his fate when he was down with stroke.
Sometime in May, there were reports that former Nollywood bad boy (yes, he was the 'bad boy' before Jim Iyke happened), Ernest Asuzu had become so broke, he had to take to begging for alms to survive.
The actor, who later tried unsuccessfully, to break into the Nigerian music scene, was spotted at a popular mall in Lagos begging for money. When he was approached by a news reporter, who recognized him, Mr. Azuzu said he was down with stroke and was only just recovering.
He also slammed the President of Actors' Guild of Nigeria, AGN, Ibinabo Fiberesima, for ignoring him and refusing to come to his aid when he was sick.
However, the AGN President has disputed Asuzu's claims.
Speaking in an interview with Nigerian Tribune, Ibinabo accused Asuzu of failing to pay his guild dues as well as register for a comprehensive health insurance scheme put in place by the AGN under her leadership.
"I have kept quiet for too long and this doesn't mean I am a fool. I don't go about abusing people on the pages of newspapers. If he is sick, he should take care of himself and stop begging on the streets and tell people what exactly is wrong with him. I am Ibinabo and AGN is a body. He should stop rubbishing my name on the pages of newspapers", she fired back.
