Breaking: First Female House of Assembly Speaker in Ondo State and Her Deputy Have Been Impeached

The Speaker of the Ondo state House of Assembly who was the first ever woman to hold the position, has been impeached.

Mrs Jumoke Akindele who made history as the first female to emerge as Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, and her Deputy, Mr Fatai Olotu have been impeached. 
 
According to Vanguard, Sources within the Assembly said they were impeached by 18 of the 26 lawmakers. 
 
The lawmakers have subsequently elected Iroju Ogundeji from Odigbo local government as Speaker and Ayo Arowele from Owo local government as the Deputy speaker. 
 
It was gathered that the impeachment exercise was done at one of the lawmakers quarters in Akure metropolis at about 10pm yesterday. 
 
Governor Olusegun Mimiko is said to be meeting with members of the assembly at the time of filling in this report.
