Abuja Electricity Distribution Company Makes U-turn, Asks Customers to Disregard Reports of Increase in Electricity Tariff

In a statement released on its Twitter handle today, the AEDC said no approval has been granted for increase in tariff.

 
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company AEDC has withdrawn an earlier memo announcing increase in tariff.
 
In a Twitter post, it asked its customers to disregard reports that it would be increasing electricity tariffs by July 1. 
 
The company had on Sunday, June 25, released a statement announcing plans to increase the tariff by July 1. The company said the increment was due to the fluctuation of the Naira in the exchange rate.
 
However, in a statement released on its Twitter handle today, the AEDC said no approval has been granted for increase in tariff.
