Governor of Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode, has officially ordered the reopening of Mile 12 market, along Ikorodu road in Lagos metropolis.
We reported it here few weeks ago that the governor
ordered the temporary closure of the Mile 12 Market, following a violent riot by hoodlums within the communities in Ketu-Mile 12 area of Lagos state that resulted in death and injury to an unspecified number of people.
The governor not only closed the market on March 3rd following a bloody communal clash between traders, he also restricted movement in four streets in the area: Oniyanri, Maidan, Agiliti 1 and Agiliti 2 streets.
The state Commissioner for Information, Steve Ayorinde, this morning, said the governor has ordered reopening of the market after meeting with 'relevant stakeholders'.
"Governor Akinwunmi Ambode this morning has ordered the reopening of Mile 12 market…after stakeholders assured him of peace and order," he said.
