The show holds the record of the most downloaded series in 24hrs and now, the season 5 finale (episode 10), has notched the record for most watched episode in history of the show.
According to Nieslen, a leading global information firm, which provides insights and data about what people watch, listen to and buy, the season finale of GoT, which aired at about the same time as the NBA finals, racked up an average of 8.11 million viewers. The figure is a 14% increment from both the previous week (7.14 million) and last year's finale (7.09 million). The previous series high for the show came with its fifth-season premiere in April, which attracted about 8 million viewers.
Sunday's ratings has made the finale American cable's second most popular program, behind only AMC's "The Walking Dead".
The Season 5 finale, which saw fans' favourite Jon Snow, played by Kit Harington, killed by his comrades at the 'Nights Watch', is currently the most watched episode of the show ever.
