Music star Davido has given out a staggering N237 million to 424 orphanages in the country.
The star singer made the announcement on his Instagram page.
Recall that in November 2021, what had started as a joke, after the singer challenged his colleagues to contribute N1 million each for him, suddenly turned out to be one of the biggest fundraisers in recent times as Davido accumulated N200 million within 78 hours.
Davido, who had initially wanted to use the funds to clear his brand new Rolls Royce from the Lagos port, decided to give the money to orphanages across the country; thus, a five-person committee was formed chaired by Titi Adebayo.
Davido wrote: “I’ve always wanted to use my platform to serve others. Thankful that through your generosity, I’ve been able to do so.
“We recently disbursed over N200m to several orphanages in Nigeria, a tradition that started a few years ago around my birthday.
“Thank you to everyone who donated. With your help, we are changing lives.
“This is what I mean when I say we rise by lifting others. These are words in action. God bless you all!”
