Kidnapped RSBC Director Of News Regains Freedom

The family member, however, said it is unclear whether any ransom was paid before her release.

 

Mrs Priestba Anthony-Wokocha, the Port Harcourt-based journalist, who was kidnapped last week by unknown gunmen has regained her freedom.

A source from the family, who revealed the development to Today FM, a radio station in Port Harcourt, said Mrs Anthony-Wokocha who is the Director of News, Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation was released last night by her abductors.

The family member, however, said it is unclear whether any ransom was paid before her release.

In the meantime, the Rivers State Police Command is yet to confirm the development to journalists.

DAILY POST reports that the kidnappers had initially contacted the family of Mrs Anthony-Wokocha, to pay the sum of N150m for her release and later reduced the amount to N10m.

Anthony-Wokocha was kidnapped at gunpoint on her way from work last week at about 8pm, after her vehicle developed a fault.
