Bandits Kill Two Immigration Officers And Abduct Others At Checkpoint In Sokoto

Spokesman of the command, ASP Ahmad Rufa’i, who confirmed the incident said that some other officers who sustained gunshot injuries were rushed to Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital Sokoto.


 

There was an attack by bandits on an Immigration checkpoint at Mamman Suka village in Gwadabawa Local Government Area of Sokoto state.

This was confirmed by the Sokoto State Police Command.

The gunmen stormed the checkpoint point along Sokoto/ Illela road at around 7 pm on Friday, July 28, 2023, shot dead two Immigration officers, and abducted others.

Spokesman of the command, ASP Ahmad Rufa’i, who confirmed the incident to the Punch on Sunday morning, July 30, said that some other officers who sustained gunshot injuries were rushed to Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital Sokoto.

The PPRO further said five rifles were recorded by the immigration officers from the gunmen and were currently at the immigration headquarters office in the state.

The Public Relations Officer of Nigeria Immigration Service Illela Border Command, Bello Mohammed, also confirmed the incident.  

"We are currently in hospital please with the wounded, I will give you a call later. We are sorting out things to know the degree of the attack and the number of casualties.” he said.

One of the deceased has been identified as Bello Adamu (Bello Anka).
