The officials of Rapid Response Squad (RRS), of the Lagos state Police Command, has apprehended a 31-year-old man, Goodness Allison, who is suspected to be a member of a syndicate which specialized in using Military and Police uniforms to steal motorcycles from riders.

Confessing before newsmen while being paraded at the state Police Command during the weekend, the suspect claimed that he became a member of the gang after the fake policeman and soldier (now his members), arrested him for plying a restricted road.

He also disclosed that his members usually disguised as policemen and military officers to steal motorcycles from unsuspecting riders, adding that the names of other members of his gangs, now at large, were simply Wilson and Aboki.

"I assisted them (Wilson and Aboki) to arrest our victim, one Hausa boy and we took his motorcycle. I don’t know what they did with the motorcycle, but the following day, they called me and offered me N10, 000.

"That was my first operation with the gang. It was the same spot where we seized the Hausa boy’s motorcycle, that I was arrested.

"I was co-opted into the team two weeks ago and we usually operate at night from 9p.m. to 11p.m. Then, I was arrested at Bucknor at Ejigbo area by Wilson and Aboki on that fateful day around 9:48p.m."

Speaking on how they make money from the business, Allison said, "First, we impound the motorcycles and later resell them. We have stolen over seven motorcycles from riders at Ejigbo, Ikotun and Bucknor."

Tunji Disu, the RRS commander, said the RRS team had mobilised a decoy team to comb the area for other members of the gang.
