Osun State Proposes Law Which Will Make Kidnapping Punishable by Death

Recent developments in the Osun State House of Asembly may lead to the enactment of a law that stipulates capital punishments for abductors in the debt-stricken state.

According to the Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Najeem Salaam, the assembly has proposed a review of the state’s criminal law to provide death penalty for kidnapping in the state.

Najeem expressed hope that the bill will be passed to reduce the incessant kidnapping and other associated vices within the state.
 
The issue of kidnappings in Nigeria have been on the increase with several classes of individuals targeted to force enormous ransoms out of them.
