A traumatised girl who escaped Boko Haram camp after she was forced to become a human suicide bomber has narrated how she miraculously escaped.

A young woman identified as Hauwa has narrated how she escaped Boko Haram camp alive after she was told to go and bomb an IDP (Internally Displaced Persons) Camp. The girl revealed her sad story started after her husband (a Boko Haram member) left.

The woman who is around 17 was interviewed by BBC correspondent as she narrated how she escaped from the terrorists.

About a year ago, she married a man who belonged to Boko Haram and moved into one of their camps with him. He promised to take her to the bush and remove all the evil spirit in her. She decided to follow him and each time after operations, the husband would tell her how it went.

She revealed that they were asked to study what they are taught. They were also told that if they died, they would go to paradise. She also revealed that a woman was slaughtered at the camp for leaving without permission.

Hauwa revealed that when her husband left, they wanted her to marry another man. She refused, then they asked her to go on a suicide mission. She also refused because her mother was in the camp they wanted her to bomb.

Knowing that her life was in danger, she started planning how to escape. So, one early morning without them knowing, she ran away.

She now recalls the horrifying experience she had in the hands of the terrorists and how they use people they found useless as human suicide bombs to kill others. Hauwa swore that she will never have anything to do with suicide bombers again as she still has plans to go to school and marry a good man.
