A Nigerian lecturer in far away Malaysia has been applauded by the country's authorities after he single-handedly developed a new hybrid of Tilapia fish.

A lecturer at the University in Nigeria (UNN), Nwachi Oster Francis, who is currently on a research grant from Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) abroad, has developed a new hybrid of Tilapia fish that amazed the Malaysian Ministry of Agriculture.
 
It was learnt that the fish was unveiled, introduced to the farmers and was named Putra Red (Prince of red Tilapia).
