Super Eagles midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi has been slammed with a two-match ban.
The Lazio player was issued the ban by the Confederation of African Football over his unprofessional conduct during last weekend's 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifiers between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Chad in Kaduna where he intentionally fouled a Chadian in retaliation to an earlier foul on Odion Ighalo.
A sober Onazi had later apologised to his fans in a series of
tweets.
Although Onazi was sent out of the match by the referee, the football governing body in Africa, CAF, has sent a circular to the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) notifying them of the ban.
The midfielder will therefore be absent in the line-up when Nigeria visits Tanzania in Dar es Salam on September 5 and when they play host to Egypt on March 25, 2016.
