Kwara Tree Accident: ‘How We Escaped Death’ - Survivors Recount

Another victim at the general hospital had been moved to another ward when journalists visited on Tuesday afternoon.

 

Those who survived a tree accident that occurred on Monday in Oke-Adini in the Zango-Kulende area of Ilọrin, Kwara State, have spoken up about how they survived the incident.

Speaking with City & Crime from their sick beds, the victims described the incident as a close shave with death.

Fatimah Jimoh, a student of the Grand Plus College of Education, Offa Garage, Ilọrin, who is on admission at the Araolu Clinic and Maternity, Oke-Adini, said she was hit on the neck by a branch of the falling tree.

Fatima said, “That is all I know. The pain was unbearable, but I am getting better. Oluwabukola, who is on admission at the Ilọrin General Hospital, told City & Crime that the situation was better imagined.

The fresh graduate of the Kwara State Polytechnic whose head was wrapped in bandage, said, “The tree hit me on the head as it fell. I just can’t thank God enough that I am still alive. The pain was unbearable, but I am getting better.”

A market woman, Hanifa Dawudu, said, “I was hit by the tree on the waist and back before I fell down. It would have been another story if another branch fell on us.”

Another victim at the general hospital had been moved to another ward when our correspondent visited on Tuesday afternoon.

However, they all said they were the ones taking care of their hospital bills since their admission.
