A church minister has been caught on camera subjecting little kids to potential danger by baptizing them in close proximity to choppy sea at uneven tide.

The church minister was spotted carrying out baptisms of children near the sea despite Storm Katie's ferocious 100mph winds.

According to Mirror Online, the shore-line baptisms were taking place on Brighton beach on Easter Monday.

Followers dressed all in white could be seen gathered on the beach as children and adults were baptised in the English Channel.

Huge waves created from the storm can be seen battering the beach just feet away from the congregation.

Photographer James Taylor was out for a walk along the seafront when he spotted the congregation, thought to be from an evangelical church.

He said: "I went for a morning stroll along Brighton beach and stumbled across these events.
"It was incredibly windy - it was just during the tail-end of the Storm Katie.

"I was taking shelter and the reportage photographer in me urged me to get my camera out and I started taking snaps."

The 36-year-old part-time photographer said he was stunned at the scene unfolding before him, but did not know the name of the church involved.

He added: "There must have been 25 people in total - I saw immediately that they were part of a church service. I was so surprised.

"While I was there, they must've baptised three children and about three adults. They were taking children down to the shoreline - it was quite hairy with the wind.
"There were moments when everybody had to run back up the beach because these huge waves were crashing right next to them - you can never really tell when a big wave is going to crash."

It is not yet clear exactly which church was performing the risky services, but Brighton and Hove City Council seafront manager Chris Ingall has warned other against the practice.

He said: "Once you go in you aren't coming out of that sea on days like Monday.

"It is completely unforgiving and very difficult to get out of the water."

Seafront officers and Brighton lifeboat station were made aware of the potentially deadly situation.
