The Judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the offence and begged the court for leniency.

A 21-year-old artisan, Pam Dung, was sentenced to six months imprisonment on Tuesday by an Area Court in Jos for destroying pop ceilings and stealing electrical fittings valued at N 2,417,000.

The Judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the offence and begged the court for leniency.

Bokkos also gave the convict an option of a N50,000 fine and asked him to pay the complainant a compensation of N2,417,000 or 12 months imprisonment in default.

Earlier, the police prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported at the Rantya Police Station on Sept. 7 by Mr Kalu Okomba.

He said the accused person broke into his house, vandalised his pop ceilings, and stole all the electrical fittings in the building valued at N 2,417,000.

The prosecutor further told the court that during the police investigation, the accused confessed to having committed the offence.

The offence, he said, contravened the Plateau Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria.
