A mother was left in shock and crying without stop after her son was brutally shot dead by armed cultists before her very eyes.
Dare-devil cultists on Tuesday shot dead a 23-year-old man, identified simply as Akor, in Rumuche community, in the Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State. Akor was killed in his father’s compound around 10pm.
According to reports, the man was dragged out of his bed by the cultists who after beating him, shot him dead in the presence of his mother who was pleading with the armed cultists.
A neighbour, Mr. Chizi Enyi, who witnessed the incident revealed that the mother pleaded on his son's behalf but everything fell on deaf ears.
Enyi said, “The mother of the man rushed out from her room when the gunmen pounced on their victim to plead on his son’s behalf.
“Her pleas fell on deaf ears as the hoodlums shot her son in her presence.”
A source revealed that the killers were deadly cultists. It was also gathered that the killing might be political.
The source said, “Trouble started when a political party bought a cow for Rumuche community.
“Akor failed to share the cow with other youths in the area. Some aggrieved cultists killed Akor for failing to produce the cow, which was alleged to be in his possession.”
The Rivers State Police Command spokesperson said he had not been fully briefed on the incident.
