Actor Bolanle Ninalowo, has said no government or administration in the country will risk undermining Nollywood, because according to him, without the film/entertainment industry, there will be no economy.
'Husbands of Lagos' actor, Bolanle Ninalowo, has said no Nigerian government would risk undermining the country's film industry known as Nollywood because without the industry, "there's no economy".
The handsome actor, who is actress, Rukky Sanda's cousin, stated this in apparent response to fears the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari might not give much priority to the entertainment industry in view of the role majority of its members played during the electioneering period.
In an interview with Pulse Nigeria, the actor said "I don't think any administration has the power or the authority to undermine our growth in Nollywood. [Nollywood] is bigger. Without Nollywood, there's no economy; without entertainment, there's nothing".
The actor, who has featured in movies like 'The Search', 'Dark' and 'What's Within', all produced by Rukky Sanda, stressed that the Nigerian film industry has grown so much that it cannot be ignored.
"I bet (ex-President) Goodluck or even our President Buhari, must sometimes be watching Nollywood. If he doesn't, his wife is watching. If his wife isn't, his kids are watching. If none of them are even actors or part of the industry now, you never know if their unborn children will be a part of it", he said.
He, however, added that Nollywood doesn't need government input to survive. "I don't connect government with entertainment in any way. With or without them, the industry would survive", he declared.
