A jealous lover who got hint of his girlfriend's cheating has brutally stabbed her to death before he tried to kill himself.
A jealous lover stabbed his girlfriend to death and tried unsuccessfully to commit suicide.
The middle-aged woman from Thuthwa village, Mathira in Nyeri County, Kenya was killed by her estranged lover. The 35-year-old woman identified as Winrose Gathoni, was stabbed with a knife that was still lodged on her throat by the time her lifeless body was being picked from the murder scene to the morgue by police officers, News24 reports.
According to the report, the suspected murderer, Samuel Kiberenge, 40, had indicated in his suicide notes that Gathoni was flirting around with other men.
He also stressed on how much he has supported the woman in many ways including her financial needs that he claimed he has managed to sustain through borrowing from financial institutions.
Neighbours revealed that the two lovers have been in a love relationship for one and half years before the ugly incident. Police officers have now arrested the man before he could escape
However, angry locals later rushed to Kiberenge’s home and set a blaze his house but the fire was put out before destruction of the properties could happen.
A Nyumba Kumi member, George Muriithi narrated how they heard screams emanating from the plot where Gathoni was living and operating salon but found her dead.
The suspect was escorted to Karatina police station while the body of the deceased was taken to Karatina District Hospital mortuary
