4 Nigerians Jailed For Over 65 Years In New Zealand

Four Nigerians who are all members of an international drug cartel, who imported $2.5m worth of methamphetamine into New Zealand, have been jailed for over 65 years in total.

Four Nigerians who are all members of an international drug cartel, who imported $2.5m worth of methamphetamine into New Zealand, have been jailed for over 65 years in total. They were bursted after their mule, Trevor Miranda, 69, was arrested.

He was caught at Auckland Airport with $1.5m worth of methamphetamine, stuffed inside shoes, and agreed to help police nab those behind the operation. The 4 Nigerian-born defendants were sentenced yesterday and will be deported after serving a third of their sentences.

They are: Nnamdi Augustine Iwu - 18 years, Ugochukwa Kingsley Okpara -16 years 2 months, Hyacinth Damus Ochibulu - 15 years 10 months, David Ikenna Obiaga (The former president of the Auckland Igbo Association) - 15 years 10 months
