A father has brutally killed himself by hanging after he learnt that the 6-year-old boy he thought was his son actually belonged to another man.
A father has killed himself after he found out that a 6-year-old boy whom he had thought was his son, was not his.
The man identified as Thembelani Nyathi, 33, had an argument with his wife Thobekile Moyo, 30, on Saturday when she allegedly told him in anger that the boy was not his. It came as shock to the man who later killed himself because he couldn't bear the shame.
His dead body was later found by residents hanging from a tree with a strand of wire on the neck on Tuesday afternoon in a bush near Masue River in Victoria Falls.
Police officer commanding Victoria Falls District Chief Superintendent Jairos Chiwona confirmed that the man hanged himself after a domestic argument. Moyo denied that her husband killed himself over their son's paternity but alleges that Nyathi was drinking heavily and had become violent towards her and the children.
Mehluli Moyo, in whose house the couple stayed, said the couple had marital problems.
