The executive has refuted claims that Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi didn't include the $60 billions Lagos-Calabar rail project which was found missing in the 2016 national budget.

Sahara Reporters via their Twitter handle have affirmed claims that the former governor of Rivers state, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi defended the Lagos-Calabar rail project which was included in the 2016 appropriation bill.

According to the tweet, the message came from the presidency and the budget defense was made before the Chairman of the federal House of Representatives committee on appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin including Senator Gbenga Ashafa and Danjuma Goje.

Jibrin who offered opposing views through his Twitter account also went on Channels TV to elucidate more on his stand.

The controversy which has been described as a national embarrassment has been traced to lack of the needed cooperation between the executive and legislative arms of government.
