Nigeria may unfortunately miss the 30 per cent broadband penetration target.

The President of the Association of Telecoms Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) Lanre Ajayi who revealed this expressed doubt over the country's ability to achieve 30 per cent broadband penetration from the current 10 per cent.

Ajayi said unless President Muhammadu Buhari's led government fasttracks the implementation process of the country's broadband plan, attaining the 30 per cent broadband penetration target by 2018 will remain a mirage.

Speaking in Lagos, after he received the National Leadership Award from the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) the ATCON Boss, said although Nigeria has moved up from six per cent broadband penetration to 10 per cent since the introduction of the country's Broadband Plan, the implementation rate by the federal government was rather too slow.
