A student of the University of Port Harcourt who joined other students to protest against a new fees policy initiated by the school has been killed.
Peter Ofurum
Peter Ofurum, a student of the University of Port Harcourt who is said to be the president of the Faculty of Management Sciences, was allegedly shot dead by the police during a protest by the students this morning over the increment in school fees and the "no school fees-no examination" policy of the school
The protesting students allege that police officers brought in to maintain law and order, fired gunshots which hit the deceased, killing him.
Clearly infuriated by the killing, angry students have started destroying school properties and properties of resident lecturers in protest of Ofurum's death.
The school has since been shut down.
