Japa: Don’t Waste Your Parents Money – PCN Tells Students Seeking Admission Abroad

He disclosed that the body has record of foreign institutions with its accreditation to train Pharmacist, calling for proper orientation before accepting admission from schools without appropriate accreditation.

Pharmacist Ibrahim Babasheu, the Registrar, Pharmacy Council of Nigeria, PCN, has urged Nigerian students willing to go study abroad to seek advise from the body before embarking on wasteful sojourn.

He disclosed that the body has record of foreign institutions with its accreditation to train Pharmacist, calling for proper orientation before accepting admission from schools without appropriate accreditation.

He stated this at the induction/convocation ceremony of Pharmacy Technician and Public Health Technician of Mercy College or Health Sciences and Technology, Iwo, Osun State on Tuesday.

Represented by the Southwest Coordinator of the Council, Pharmacist Adenike Ogunlola, he warned students against seeking degrees from Neighbouring West-African countries to avoid wasteful ventures.

“Don’t go to Benin Republic, Togo, Cameroon and others seeking further degrees, such venture would amount to waste of resources and time. If you are seeking foreign degrees it must be in PCN approved institutions.

“The PCN is aware that a good number of Pharmacy Technicians seek further education in foreign countries. The PCN has nothing against such, in fact, the PCN supports that. However, this must be done in PCN approved institutions. Consequently, you are advised to confirm status of the institution you want to apply for further studies before accepting admission. You can can always contact PCN website or offices for the status of foreign institutions”,
he said.

Earlier speaking, the Chairman of the induction ceremony, Professor Ajibade Lawal, to adhere strictly to the ethics of the profession in a bid to become the best among their peers.

According to him, medical courses demand courage, especially to avoid sharp practices which can tarnish the image of not just their institution but also the professional body they belonged.
