Senate Suspends Senator Ningi for Three Months Over Budget Padding Allegation

Ningi had accused the Senate of padding the 2024 appropriation bill to the tune of N3.7 trillion.

 
Bauchi Central Senator, Abdul Ningi has been suspended by the Senate.
 
He was suspended over his allegation of budget padding.
 
The Senate said Ningi will be suspended for a period of three months.
 
This followed Senator Jimoh Ibrahim’s motion for Ningi’s suspension.
 
But some Senators moved that Ningi’s suspension be reduced to six months.
 
Ningi had accused the Senate of padding the 2024 appropriation bill to the tune of N3.7 trillion.
 
The lawmaker made the claim in an interview with BBC.
 
But the Senate during Tuesday’s deliberation said Ningi should be suspended for alleged misconduct and refusal to apologize.
