Mother Escapes As Trailer Crushes Children To Death In Onitsha

The incident happened on Saturday, around 5:00 pm. The mother of the two deceased children however escaped alive.

Tragically, two children have lost their lives after being crushed by a truck at the River Niger Bridge head in Onitsha, Anambra State.

It was gathered that the truck suffered a brake failure, leading to the accident.

An eyewitness, who confirmed the incident, said: “The trailer which was heading towards Asaba lost control and hit the mother and her children alongside other passengers waiting to board vehicles heading to Asaba.

“The mother was lucky, as she escaped, but her two children were crushed to death.”


The eyewitness said the mother wailed inconsolably. Some other people involved in the accident sustained injuries.

As at the time of filing this report, the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has not commented on the incident.
