Police Deny Abduction Of Worshippers In Gusau

Reacting to this, the state's police command spokesperson, Yazid Mohammed stated that people are only circulating a false report without authenticating the true situation.

The Zamfara State Command has dismissed reports of abduction of worshippers by bandits in Gusau.

It was alleged that bandits barricaded a mosque located behind NEPA at Samaru area under Gusau local government and abducted numbers of worshippers Ramadan prayer (Tuhajjud) around 2 am on Tuesday, April 2.

Reacting to this, the state's police command spokesperson, Yazid Mohammed stated that people are only circulating a false report without authenticating the true situation. Mohammed said what happened was the killing of one Ashiru Mohammed, a provision store business man living at Bulunku quarters and the abduction of his wife and a neighbor.

A source residing at NEPA area where the alleged incident took place, also told Vanguard there was no abduction of people in the area. He stressed that they only heard gunshot from a far distance while they were saying their Tuhajjud (Night prayer).

He said;

“We are saying our Tuhajjud (Ramadan Night Prayers) at the Jumu’at Mosque situated behind NEPA area, and we are normally guided by vigilante people surrounding the mosque to ensure safety of worshippers”
