Joe Biden, the President of the United States, US, on Thursday said that black women in America are more prone to die during pregnancy than their white counterparts.

Biden said this has made the Black Maternal Health Week an urgent call for action.

According to the US president, disparities that address the health of black women are being addressed by his administration.

Biden wrote: “Black women in America are 3x as likely to die from pregnancy-related complications than white women, making Black Maternal Health Week an urgent call for action.

“That’s why we’re using the power of the federal government to address the long-standing disparities that Black communities continue to face—disparities that directly impact the health and well-being of Black mothers.”
