Presidential aide, Bayo Onanuga had made the claim on his Twitter page.

Maersk has said news that it signed a $600m investment with Nigeria is untrue.

Presidential aide, Bayo Onanuga had made the claim on his Twitter page. He claimed that the company pledged the investment after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu.

Reacting, A.P Moller-Maersk chairman Robert Maersk Uggla said he met with Tinubu but never made a deal for such investment.

“Maersk has been present in Nigeria for 35 years and, as a global provider of logistics services, we remain committed to develop opportunities for growth to people, the port sector and businesses locally,” the company said in a statement to Lloyd’s List.

“Therefore, it is natural to have an ongoing dialogue with the administration. However, we are not able to comment on any investment talks.”

Reacting, Rufai Oseni took to Twitter and wrote:

"We couldn’t secure 600m dollar deal with Maesrk and we misinformed people but we damaged a 200m dollar worth of preexisting business because we want to spend 1 trillion Naira on 47km of road when we have many roads left undone. Who bewitched us in Nigeria."
