The State Police boss said children who went to play around the tree discovered the abandoned child floating in the well.
Abaniwonda Olufemi, a Delta State Commissioner of Police, has announced that law enforcement agents in the state have apprehended Sofia Nkwor, a 24-year-old woman, for abandoning her one-year-and-one-month-old baby in a well along the road in the Araya Community of Isoko South Local Government Area.
CP Olufemi disclosed this at a press briefing today.
The State Police boss said children who went to play around the tree discovered the abandoned child floating in the well.
According to CP Olufemi, “The mother Sofia Nkwor ‘f’ aged 24yrs was immediately arrested and she stated that she dumped the child on 26th April 2024.”
He said, “Suspect is in custody and investigation is ongoing.”
