Neighbours of the couple confirmed that both husband and wife had been keeping animosity in the relationship for a while.

A local businessman in Akure, Ondo State, identified as Fatai Abdullahi, has purportedly stabbed his wife, Morenike, to death following an argument concerning her intention to visit her child from a previous marriage.

City & Crime reports that Abdullahi (40) repeatedly stabbed the woman on the chest with a pair of scissors following the argument.

Neighbours of the couple confirmed that both husband and wife had been keeping animosity in the relationship for a while.

One of the neighbours said, “It’s unfortunate that the husband killed the wife. We had warned on several occasions against this petty fighting but they wouldn’t listen.

“Their families even intervened but all the efforts were zero. I wish they had separated and gone their separate ways, probably this sad occurrence wouldn’t have happened.”

In a related development, a 25-year-old man, Tajudeen Narudeen, has been remanded in prison for stabbing his fellow worker, Nathaniel Onakujo, to death with a knife.

Tajudeen, who was arraigned before Magistrate B. A. Ikusika on a count charge of criminal insubordination, was said to have committed the offence on Olorunyomi Street in the Odigbo area of the state.

The prosecutor, James Usifo, told the court that the defendant stabbed the victim with a knife on his back and inflicted injuries on him which led to his death.

The defendant pleaded not guilty, and his counsel, A. Ayemoro, prayed the court to grant his client bail.

Magistrate Ikusuka, however, ordered his remand and adjourned the case to May 20.
