Police Arrest Five For Thuggery, Robbery In Niger

Some dangerous weapons used in robbing their victims of their valuables were recovered.

Five persons, Saifulahi Mohammed, Nazifi Basiru, Nura Basiru, Ifeanyi John, and Ludu Haruna, have been arrested by the Niger State Police over their alleged involvement in thuggery and armed robbery at the Maitunbi area of Minna, the state capital.

The command through the Public Relations Officer (PRO) SP Wasiu Abiodun disclosed this in Minna while parading the suspects.

The suspects include Saifulahi Mohammed, Nazifi Basiru, Nura Basiru, Ifeanyi John, and Ludu Haruna all of Maitumbi, Minna.

According to him, ”The arrest is in continuation of the ongoing raid of criminal hideouts in Minna and its environs. On 10th of May, 2024 at about 0100hrs-0230hrs, the DPO Maitumbi Division led operation flush patrol team in collaboration with vigilantes, to hideouts within Angwan-Roka, Angwan-Kadara and Saiko of Maitumbi areas of Minna, where the suspects were arrested”;

He said some dangerous weapons used in robbing their victims of their valuables were recovered, including, one cutlass, three knives, three scissors, suspected Indian hemp, cigarettes and lighters, charms, phones and some money.

The PRO further disclosed that suspects will soon be transferred to SCID Minna for further investigation and prosecution as soon investigation is concluded.
