A house located at the Bariga area of Lagos metropolis has been gutted by fire in the early hours of Tuesday caused by fuel stored in the compound.

The Bariga area of Lagos metropolis has met a tragedy as a house located at 17, Egberonbe Street, Ladylak bus stop in the area, was gutted by fire on Tuesday morning.
Spokesman for the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Adebayo Kehinde, said it received a distress call on the incident at about 9:45am.
"Upon receipt of the distress call, the Agency activated her response team and also coordinate rescue/recovery operations with relevant stakeholders at the incident scene," he told DailyPost.
Kehinde further explained that while the cause of the inferno could not be immediately ascertained, though some neighbours said some area boys living in the building stored PMS (fuel) in their apartment.
"4 rooms in the first floor, 3 rooms in the BQ and a mini flat were affected in the inferno. No lives lost, 1 victim who sustained minor injuries has been taken to the hospital for further treatment.
"The combined efforts of Fire Services and Lasema ERT were able to curtail the fire from spreading to other buildings. 4 rooms were salvaged on the ground floor as the fire had been put out."
He quoted LASEMA General Manager, Michael Akindele as advising the public to desist from storage of combustible materials such as petroleum products in residential areas.
