Reports are indicating that President Muhammadu Buhari plans to remove the fuel subsidy, and to re-invest the funds saved in the provision of free and compulsory Primary/Secondary school education in Nigeria.
Reports are indicating that President Muhammadu Buhari has almost concluded plans to remove the fuel subsidy that has for long been a topic of debate amongst Nigerians.
According to a source who spoke to Vanguard in anonimity, the President's grand plan is to re-invest the funds saved from the removal of fuel subsidy in the provision of free and compulsory Primary/Secondary school education in Nigeria.
The source said the administration will also be working on unbundling the NNPC, to make it more efficient in service to Nigerians. He said all refineries in Nigeria are to be made to work at maximum capacity by the federal government to be able to deliver adequate products to the consumers.
It was also revealed that the FG was set to block all channels of fund leakages in the NNPC, adding that the era of allocating more crude than the refinery in Nigeria was over, as it was discovered that the policy encouraged corruption and diversion of funds.
These proposals form part of the strong recommendations made by the transition committee raised by the President to work out a blueprint for his administration.
The shocking turn-out of events is that the removal has been discussed with the representatives of the Nigerian Labour Congress who have nodded in agreement to the proposed removal.
