Nigerian Army troops have reportedly rescued seven kidnap victims during a raid on insurgent hideouts in communities across Borno.

Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, said the raid was conducted by troops of 25 Brigade in Damboa and Konduga LGAs.

The operation was carried out after the troops reportedly received a tip off on July 18.

The publication said the victims, who were Fulani herdsmen, were found in chains in Kanama village.

“The sources said that team ‘A’ of the troops discovered a large Boko Haram camp at Imimi Bulabulin, overpowered the terrorists, eliminated one of them, while others escaped,” Makama said.

“The troops also destroyed the camp, while items recovered include 11 bicycles, 2 AK 47 magazines, and various other materials.

“The victims, all Fulani herdsmen, claimed they were robbed of their cattle and abducted at various times and locations.”

In another development, troops of Multi National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) reportedly killed four terrorists during a raid in Yashinti village, Nganzai LGA of Borno.

The troops received credible intelligence on the operation of terrorists in the area and raided the village at about 6pm on July 18.

During the gun duel that ensued, the troops overpowered the insurgents and killed four.

One AK47 rifle, three AK47 rifle magazines, and seven rounds of 7.62mm x 39mm special ammunition, were reportedly recovered from the insurgents.
