A man has left people in shock after he brutally stabbed his girlfriend to death for refusing to accept his marriage proposal.
A man has brutally stabbed his girlfriend to death after attacking the girl's murder and nearly killing her in the process before she escaped.
According to NewTelegraph, the man stabbed the lover to death for refusing his marriage proposal. The man who works with one of the leading Global System for Mobile communication (GSM) service providers did the unthinkable act yesterday in Ilorin, Kwara State.
Sources said the lady’s mother was rushed to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) where she was receiving treatment.
Investigations revealed that the lovers, who had been going out for some time, had also been involved in serious argument over the issue of marriage.
The lady who is in her 30s had accused the boyfriend of always going out with several other women at the same time. So when he proposed, she turned him down. Angry and desperate, he insisted that the girl must marry him. It was learnt that they went out on Sunday night and returned to the girl’s house at Tanke area of Ilorin where the mother had also come to visit her daughter.
Early yesterday morning, the argument resurfaced with the girl still maintaining her position. The man was said to have threatened to kill the lady if she refused his proposal.
It was at the height of the argument that the lady’s mother came out of her room to settle the dispute. The man was said to have dashed into the kitchen, picked up a knife and attacked the two women. While he succeeded in killing his lover, the mother sustained injuries before neighbours were alerted to the scene by the woman’s cries for help.
An autopsy was to be conducted on her body at the UITH yesterday to enable the institution to file a proper report.
