Senator Iyabo Anisulowo who was kidnapped by gunmen and then rescued has recounted the events that occurred after she was kidnapped.
Senator Iyabo Anisulowo, a former Minister of State for Education,
was rescued yesterday from her abductors by the police. She has revealed that she drank only water throughout her seven-day stay in the den of kidnappers.
According to PM News, Anisulowo, who arrived at Government House at Isale-Igbehin, Abeokuta at about 10.p.m. in company of the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, said she had not eaten since Wednesday when she was kidnapped.
The former minister described her experience as "terrible and dehumanising.”
Anisulowo who was kidnapped last Wednesday was rescued by the police on Tuesday at about 7.p.m. at Gbegbelawo village near Olorunda town in Abeokuta North Council Area.
The former minister was abducted on the Sawonjo-Iganokoto road in Yewa-South Council Area of the state.
The former senator revealed further that she knew security agents were searching for her, adding that this gave her strength and hope that she would survive the incident.
Governor Ibikunle Amosun, on his part, commended the security agencies which deployed their personnel and equipment in the rescue effort.
He said that though the abductors demanded a ransom of N200 million, nothing was eventually paid.
The governor expressed confidence in the ability of the police to provide security and therefore called on the Federal Government to adequately equip the Force.
Also speaking, Abdulmajid Ali told newsmen that the ring leader of the gang behind the abduction had been arrested.
He reiterated that the command would make the state uncomfortable for criminals.
The police on Monday had announced a N5 million reward for anyone who could provide useful information leading to her rescue.
