Police React As Officer Kills Teenage Boy Over Fireworks In Delta

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the command, SP Bright Edafe, said the officer had been arrested and detained.

The Delta State Police Command has reacted to reports that its official shot dead a 17-year-old boy, Emeka Odogwu, in Ozoro community, Isoko North Local Government Area of the State.

TORI reported that the incident happened on Saturday night, December 8, over an argument about using fireworks.

The deceased was said to have attempted to escape when one of the policemen reportedly opened fire and shot him to death.

A resident who shared the report via X wrote, “The police in Ozoro,Delta state shot and killed a 17 years old boy cos he bought and shot knock out, and they left him die according to to eye witness @PoliceNG @PoliceNG_CRU”

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the command, SP Bright Edafe, said the officer had been arrested and detained.

According to Edafe, the Commission of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, promised justice would be served on the case.

He wrote, “The Nigerian police remain the main force that fish out erring officers that make them face the law This year alone, more than two has been charged to court for murder. This case won’t ve an exception because the policeman has no justification at all. He has been detained and the CP has assured the family of justice.”
