Alieke argued that regardless of the case’s merits, Speed Darlington is entitled to bail as provided in Section 35(4) of the Nigerian Constitution and Section 158 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.

Nigerian lawyer, Stan Alieke, who is representing singer, Speed Darlington has issued a statement addressing the recent allegations surrounding his client’s case.

Alieke emphasized his commitment to protecting Speed Darlington’s interests, highlighting the importance of proactive legal counsel in preventing disputes.

Alieke’s legal team closely monitors and advises clients on potentially risky social media content, including Speed Darlington. However, the courts’ inefficiencies have delayed Speed Darlington’s arraignment due to judges’ conferences and the upcoming festive court recess.

The case has now been formally charged to the Federal High Court, Abuja (Court 13), and Alieke stressed that it is sub judice, meaning only the court can determine its outcome. Notably, under Nigerian law, defamation is no longer a criminal offense and must be addressed through civil actions.

Alieke argued that regardless of the case’s merits, Speed Darlington is entitled to bail as provided in Section 35(4) of the Nigerian Constitution and Section 158 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.
