Gunmen Raid Zamfara Community, Abduct Over 50 Women, Girls

It was gathered that the attackers, armed with sophisticated weapons, invaded the community around 1:30 am on Sunday, moving from house to house in a well-coordinated assault.

Over 50 women and girls have been kidnapped by suspected bandits during an attack on Kakin Dawa, a village in Gidan Goga district of Maradun Local Government Area, Zamfara State.

It was gathered that the attackers, armed with sophisticated weapons, invaded the community around 1:30 am on Sunday, moving from house to house in a well-coordinated assault.

A resident of the village, while speaking with Daily Post, recounted the harrowing ordeal, saying, “Everyone started running because the armed bandits have been targeting our village; later we discovered that more than 50 of our women were abducted.”

He called on both the federal government and the Zamfara State government to urgently deploy more military and security forces to the area to counter the threat posed by the bandits.

Zamfara State has been plagued by incessant attacks from bandits, with communities facing frequent raids, kidnappings, and displacement.

Recall that not less than two explosive devices went off at separate locations in the Dansadau District of Maru Local Government Area, Zamfara State, marking the third incident of explosive attacks in the area within a week.

According to reports, the explosions occurred simultaneously on the Dansadau-Malamawa road and the Malele road on Friday.
